View Full Version : Crowded House/Split Enz Drummer Dead

Paul Hester the last drummer for Split Enz and of Crowded House has committed suicide. He hanged himself in an Austrailia park, he was 46. Hester and Neil Finn (who penned "I Got You") formed Crowded House and were joined by Split Enz co-founder Brian Timothy Finn (Neil's older brother) on C.H.'s 1991 Album. The Finn brothers are currently touring supporting their 2nd album.

If you havn't heard the Finn Brother's music it's close to C.H. Good heartwrenching stuff although it doesn't chart here in the U.S. I'm fortunate enough to be within range of an independent station in Woodstock N.Y. (yes the famous Dylan/The Band Woodstock). They play Finn Brothers/Crowded House/Split Enz often. It's some of my favorite music.

I've always loved these somewhat eccentric groups of the late '70s-early '90s. Call them New Wave, Post-Punk whatever. I always feel sad in that when a member dies there is a sort of finality in that I'll never get to see the group again.

Anyways here's a link http://www.rollingstone.com/news/story/_/id/7222469/crowdedhouse?pageid=rs.NewsArchive&pageregion=mainRegion

I love Split Enz, History Never Repeats and I got you where some of my faves.

The Conflicting Emotions album was before it's time.

Every now an then I dig out my old LP's and tapes (usually when I'm on a binge) and go back to a different time.

Tempus Fugit.

RIP paul

BTW rumours today are this weekend triplej will be playing at least 1 tape of when he was a DJ @ the station as the drivetime host of the Frank and Hester. They were extremely funny. If it come to fruition I'll post a link and timeslot

I'm not from New Zealand (some relatives in Aus.) but am British/Irish. I always feel closest to their type of music. :)

I'm assuming by the name of the group, that it's more of a hard rock band. That's why I don't know who the guy is or have ever heard of the band. I listen to hip hop, R & B, and rap.....oh, and the old sounds from Motown.

Elmtree....the beer issue is a personal preference. I know plenty of Americans who love warm dark beer...I THINK IT'S GROSS.

Also, driving an automatic car does not matter to me..I learned how to drive with a stick shift back when I was 15.

Thinking that gas should be cheap so we can drive big cars...that is also not me. I have a 4 cylinder engine....uses very little gas. Some of us DO try out best to conserve.

And...I have never bought more than USUAL at Christmas time to show my love to others. I'm big into making homemade gifts such as treats, hats, portraits and such.

MAYBE YOU NEED TO VENTURE OUT A BIT MORE AND LEARN THAT ALL AMERICANS ARE NOT ALIKE.....just as all people from other countries are not alike.

Lets put a few discrepancies to rest.
For one, when it's said that (insert designated country here) serves beer 'warm' it's a relative term. Generaly warmer that other styles.

Dark ales (such as stouts & porters) should be served at 55-60° F

pale ales, dark lagers (Becks dark) at around 50-55° F

wheat and pale lagers (tasteless American wimpbeer) 40-50° F

On another note:

Gasoline. I drive a full size truck (8Cyl) it's not efficient in terms of say a little 4 banger, but whenever those who drive little eco-freindly 4 cyls, need to move or haul stuff, who do you think they call?

I do have a performance chip that eeks out up to 12-15 MPG in the city, 18-20 on the hiway.

If it was safe to ride, I'd have a 800cc bike to scoot about.

But one reason I drive said truck is safety from the dizzy 4 banger drivers yappin on the cell while stirring their lattes and pickin their noses.

Now all the yuppie scum are running out to buy electric cars thinkin their non polluting. None of them seem to understand that electricity is comming from someplace thats polluting just as much.

Out here in the Desert, the prospects of wind and solar are very ideal. Many out in the sticks can run off the grid from solar and wind. These two energy alternatives will not be marketed soon to power the masses, but what can be done is use this technology on an individual basis. It will take time and the desire.

you're a fucking commie!!!!!11

solar/wind/tidal power are all renewable energy sources so after the initial capital is outlayed there is little opportunity to rip off the consumers so no-one wants to produce it while there is still oil/coal to burn
Navada like Australia are ideal for solar generators cos personally I don't like the wind turbines cos they're ugly. Coastal environs with a tidal drop in excess of 1metre should harness all that free energy

I don't care what anybody says if beers is warmer than 3c it to hot

One point I'd like to make, Wannabe, if you dropped beer into british water, it wouldn't be ice, because as I'm sure you know, water doesn't become ice till it reaches zero, therefore as long as the water didn't drop below 1 degree, it wouldn't freeze the beer, Pedantic I know, but worth clearing up.
And, you need a bit of warmth to british beer to accentuate the taste, and also, British beer isn't fizzy like lager's etc, so you don't need it cool. If you drank 'lager or pilsner' warm you'd blow you're head off because of all the expanded gasses.

thats Capitalist Pig-Dog yankee to you sir.

Personaly I like my mega-hoppy pale ales to warm up after pouring them cold, get more hop bite!

US Liberals like to whine about the fact that GM is destroying (crushing them) their electric hybrids. They say that it's a big money grubing corporation that cares none for the environment. What they fail to say is the reason why they are doing that is because nobody wants to buy them. Soon enough, the Liberals will make the public buy them at gunpoint.

There are vast stretches of wasteland here in Nevada that could sport turbo windmills and not clutter up the scene too much. But piping that power back to a populated area is the rub. Too expensive and the power lines would cut through a lot of environmentaly sensitive areas.

But there is no damn reason why every new house being built in Las Vegas (5000 a month) should not have black vinyl tubeing water heaters on the roofs. On most days the roof gets to about 150 degrees on it's own. A recirculating system of piping can heat that water waaaay up.

women Naked + sport doesn't mix

they get distracted to easily as these hockey players in the 1st pic show
even clothed they only think of 1 thing, see pic 2 which leads to pic 3
Ya can't even take them fishing see pic 4
The best thing is just to store all sporting equipment until needed, like I do as you'll see in the final pic

both are enjoyable but shouldn't be mixed
sport like lemonade can be amature or professional
women like beer are much more enjoyable without any packaging
