Rain either tonight or tomorrow......I just know it is.

I picked up one of the residents at the agency where I work (I take her out once a month since she has no family to speak of), and we went and washed and hand waxed and polished my car, as well as cleaned the entire inside, along with the windows....conditioned the inside while I was at it too. The car looks just like it did when I drove it off the lot brand new.

There was no mention of possible rain until about Tuesday when I left out to pick her up.....I get home, and they're predicting rain for tomorrow as well as Monday...

AINT THAT A BITCH? The last time I spent that much time and effort with my car, it rained the next day as well.

FUCKING SHIT:mad:

thats why I don't wash my car

I hope you are like teh missus when she does things like that with a client - the agency pays for everything that is used :D

MamaBush

Well, not supposed to REALLY have them doing manual labor when they spend time with us....but, she enjoyed it, and I taught her HOW to clean up a car the correct way. I do this routine with my car 4 times a year. The kids like to help us staff when we move as well....even the supervisors let the kids help with that. Then they're taken somewhere nice or fun, plus make some money doing it.

The agency does pay for the outing though. We had dinner, went to see "The Ring Two", and got pop corn and soda at the movie. Damn snacks cost more than the movie.

edited to add; when I worked as a manager at a drive in, our $1.00 bucket of popcorn cost us $0.28

hehe ripoffs are so common

Mama, You get around those problems by telling them it's vocational training :D

MamaBush
04-18-2005, 07:02 AM
Nope.....can't do that. We already get a discount for working where we work at many of the theaters around here. One of the theaters even lets the staff in free, with proof of course. And a bowling alley in my town, allows staff and kids to bowl for free....unlimited games (but I don't bowl)....all the guy wants is a 24 hour advance notice and for the kids to say "thank you" before they leave.

Hell, even the cops in the town where the agency is let's staff off with verbal warnings if they perchance happen to see our ID. I've been pulled over 3 times in the 11 years I've worked there. I have one of my IDs right next to my driver's license in my wallet....you know, where it sits behind clear plastic so you don't have to take it out....each time I've been pulled over, they see where I work, usually say "bless you" or "how do you work with those kids?"....and let me go with a "HAVE A NICE NIGHT"....ahh the perks

Years ago, I worked with the profoundly retarded......THAT WAS ONE HELL OF A RIDE.

For the past 11 years, I've been working with ED/BD, LD, EMH, mixed in with some autism.

I LOVE working with the ED/BD and LD population the most....give me conduct disorder kids any day.

Fetal alcohol now falls into the ED category....with LD if applicable.

I can feel for you two, it takes that some one with that something special to work with those kids,

I know some of what you are going through, my youngest sister is epiletic (sp) with LD/ED. I was the one who looked out for her from the other kids.

I knew I should have asked you guys to help teh missus.
She spent last week giving a series of lectures on Behavioural problems with disabled children, covering everything from deaf/blind, autism, Downs syndrome and anything in between. It's her speciality but she's never given lectures before
I somehow survived the stress with my nutz still attached :D

MamaBush
04-19-2005, 03:42 AM
How did she do?

I have no problems speaking in front of groups....you kind of get over that after you've done it a couple of times.

And...as difficult as the population of kids I work with can be...I wouldn't change my carreer for anything.

zokah
04-19-2005, 04:38 AM
She was very nervous but her boss thought she did well and another local organisation is now paying them to give the series at their establishment, the manager was there and sat in on only a couple of sessions and was impressed.
I told her that she knew the subject matter so it wasn't a problem and the Q&A session went 45 minutes overtime but covering new ground so I guess she got them interested
I don't have any trouble speaking in front of groups but she's never done it before so I just taught her trick #1 "just imagine them all sitting there naked"
