Okay all you computer nerds.....can anyone tell me if I can find power point on the web for FREE?? For some reason, when I bought my computer (was my first one, was very computer illiterate at the time) I didn't know what power point was, never heard of it, didn't ask if my package deal included it.

I DO NOT HAVE IT

Everyone I've spoken to with Windows XP home, says power point came with their system. I have just about every other fucking program that Windows has...but NOT POWER POINT.

I have an assistive technology class this term, and we HAVE to do a power point presentatioin with a program called INSPIRATION.

Is it possible that I may have it, SOMEWHERE???

When I search my system, nothing comes up for power point.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated....

If you didn't order it with your computer, then you probably don't have it. I think between Zoks and I we could probably hunt a copy down at a geek site. (not making any promises):)

If you only want the viewer it's free from Microsux (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=428d5727-43ab-4f24-90b7-a94784af71a4&displaylang=en) - 1900kb
If you want to create them I think you need M$ office, I'm not 100% sure cos I have uninstalled it but I don't know of any other programs that can create the files
Buying office isn't cheap unless you know where to shop and then you run into security issues when you need M$ updates unless it's installed on a box not used for the net
Nothing that could open powerpoint files with my legal copy of XP home so I just installed the 97 version I already had I don't use it enuff to even bother upgrading
If you need any info on where to find a cheper version of office PM me

Believe me, I do not want power point on my computer, because I know that as soon as I'm done with my Master's degree, I'll never use it again.

Just found out today, that the power point on my kid's computer at work doesn't work any longer either...........SO NOW WHAT THE FUCK AM I SUPPOSED TO DO FOR THIS FUCKING CLASS PROJECT???

it means you supply what you want in it and somebody else then puts it all together as a PPP (powerpointpresentation) file

Typically what will happen for me is I will be working on critical artwork that is funneled into a very tight deadline. Not too much room for me screwing up let alone my workstation. Then at about 90% of completion I will get the blue screen and it possibly corrupts the files I've been working on. Out of pure nessesity I do redundant backup of all critical art so I'm not completly screwed.

But it cost a lot of time.

And reaffirms my notion that I need to go Mac.

zokah

why it's never happened to you I have no idea just plenty of envy

I think it's often a case of overloading the memory. Try encoding a vid while surfing the net and having a couple of other programs open at the same time like making a gif

They generaly are for Illustrator/ Photoshop work and desktop publishing, or at least the Macs ruled that industry early on. But nowadays the same apps work just as good and just as fast. Macs are more user freindly for most graphic artist who dont want to mess with the tech on occasion.

PC seems to be the platform of choice however for CAD and 3D animation work.

I've always prefered PC's

But then theres Silicon Graphics workstations....droool.....

crappy IT tech support is so wrong. The best situ is when you have top notch puter geeks that you can sway for favor. Homebrew is useful for leverage no doubt about it.

I would like to get some kind of rudimentary skill going in Excel. Our engineers and math people use it a lot, and do amazing things. I'm clueless. I mean these folks balance their checkbooks, design games, calculate their investments and do shopping list with it all on the same page!
