Over the past year, my doctors been watching my blood/glucose levels as well because they've been going up. And are up even more since the last fasting blood workup.[/color]

Oh for those who don't know why my lipids and cholesterol are checked every 6 months...it's because I have a very fucked up ticker. Had my first heart attack at 28, and have had 4 more since then. Gots me 4 very expensive cardiac stents in my ticker as well........ha, I told my daughter to make sure when I die that she gets those stents and melt them down into a ring....they're PLATINUM (sp).

I've done that route of others giving me "fantastic" veggie recipes....THEY ALL SUCKED.

I just don't like vegetables.....as a matter of fact, I used to have to sit at the dining room table for hours after dinner most nights....refused to eat my veggies.

I do like lettuce, and some vegetables raw...love corn, but corn is very starchy.

I Know....but rice and noodles are my downfall (as well as ice cream) when it comes to my blood sugar/glucose levels going up and up.

I do like veggies with cheese sauce....but the cheese sauce is not good for a person either....or with butter....which is also not good for the lipid and cholesterol levels.

mama i think you need to experiment with cooking with chinese food its a matter of cook what you like and if it tastes bland throw in some soy sauce the liven up the taste

Mamasan you may want to look into Mediteranean foods. Essentialy the basis is whole foods. The base being grains, legumes, lot's of veggies, fish, olive oil (which can improve heart conditions with antioxidant properties to boot). The olive oil replaces all other cooking fats. Poultry in moderation and very little red meat. And if any it's lean meat. Feta cheese is infinatly more healthy than processeded American stuff which is almost all hydrogenated grease. That is; trans fats that will destroy your arteries.

Optional is moderate amounts of wine too, like a glass a day for women.

All in all a darn good diet and it aint bland.
