I'm back and have the net, went totaly wireless.
no wires to tie me down, can go just about anywhere and still get the net.
have to figure out to run my laptop off my Jeep battery
with out going from DC to Ac, and back again with laptop power cord.

Not too many options without an inverter LTD. Unless you gots a Blackberry.
But suitable inverter setups that you can run off your Jeep are very easily assembled. If your serious you can get a dual 12 volt setup and use an isolator to run both from your alternator and have a good 800+ watt inverter thats got decent filters and run GPS, laptops CB radio, shortwave and all.

Just need to find out if it will run on 12 volts DC.
The wire-less modem is already at 12 VDC

I use a 12 volt converter to run a CB radio at home on occasion and it filters power very well. No linear amplifiers mind you. But of course that runs from 120v AC.
