I couldn't get the clip to fully load but I'm pretty sure I recognise the segment from the DVD "Condition black" and it was either Ken Bradshaw or my compardre from Terrigal, Ross Clarke-Jones.
I still have vivid recollections of them telling me about the 1st rode they rode Jaws, I was crying into my beer when Ken told of the drop made famous by National Geographic, "50ft of shitstreaks" were his exact words :D
Sadly, last time I visited Hawaii Jaws was still considered unridable, but I'd have lived up to the motto "Take off or Die" when I was fit enuff. I found Waimea at around 25ft was awesome so double the size would have been mindblowing

in a recent poll 78% of surfers said if given a choice they'd take a great wave instead of great sex :D
I was in the majority, my logic was I can have great sex anytime but a great wave is something special (it should be noted the other 22% were virgins)

As it sux to be me becuase of dialup and all I never did get to D/L the video, but I've seen the Monster wave surfing stuff before. To be that involved with nature and the raw power of it, to try to hold some grace in the face the awesome force has got to be one helluva rush.

And I imagine big ass waves are much more available than willing females a good deal of the time.

If only that were true. So far this year there have been only 3 days with quality big waves (over 10ft) and maybe twice that many that would equate to 12 beer honeys. T'was a lousy winter so now we are sacrificing virgins hoping to attract some cyclones in the Coral sea over xmas and into the new year - thats the next time I expect anything other than a freak of nature.
Most places around the world that get big swells only get them reliably for a couple of months each year, usually in winter. The worlds most recognised big wave contest is the Eddie Akiau memorial invitational held in Hawaii only if the surf gets above 20ft it can commence any time from Dec26 to Jan31 which give you a good guide to the reliability of mother nature but 24 of the best bigwave surfers are happy to sit around waiting - it's a good way to remember a great guy
