Aussie skipper Ricky Ponting has completed back to back centuries (149 & 104no) over the past 3 days in the 1st test of the summer against the Windies. Hayden also got a ton in the 2nd innings.
Surprisingly Ponting didn't enforce the follow on after Warne rolled up the tail to claim only his 2nd 5fer from them.
So we head into day 4 with a 508 run lead and forcasts of more lost time due to rain. I'm guessing the declaration to be made overnight
India meanwhile have completed back to back to back to back wins to wrap up the 7 game ODI series against the Sri Lankans. Isn't that there first home series win in a few years?
The upcoming tests there should be an interesting battle of spin

the windies have no chance of wining the 1st test
your words seem almost prophetic now :D :D
yep india's win against the lankans is their first home series win since 2002 when they
beat zimbabwe. They did come close against pakistan earlier this year, going up 3-0
before losing the next four games.
The lankans won last nite's game but not before gambhir and dravid cracked centuries
for india

games once the series is decided don't mean much
what was the score when you made that fearless prediction wannabee?
2.30pm, I think they were about 7down then :D
the windies looked pretty pathetic in thta game....I hope they wake up for the next one.

They played OK on the 1st day but from there it was all downhill, it accelerated after Lara got a bad LBW call in their 1st knock.
The bad news for everybody else was Lees bowling on the final day, he looked like the bowler he should be. I still can't find the last test the aussies won that both McGrath and Warne played in and didn't get a wicket between them in the 2nd innings :D
well india wrapped it up 6-1 in the end....not a bad series and a lot of positives, the biggest of which was that ganguly didn't play. Tendulkar did ok I thought, he got 2 50's and some, Dhoni had 2 great innings, dravid played well in all the games i thought and this new fella RP Singh sure has some zing.....
When's the next test between aussieland and windies?

You can put the series win down to the aussies :D
What would the outcome have been if Greg Chappel hadn't won the battle and Ganguly was still the skipper?
Will he ever play for India again?
The test starts on Thursday in Tasmania (see the map I posted b4 if you still ain't sure where that is) I think it might be Ponting 1st match on his homeground as skipper.
With Symonds in the squad there is a very good chance that the aussies will go in with both leggies, Warne and McGill. I hope so cos it could be fun to watch
looks like another mismatch - windies 126/5 mcgrath and lee picking up 2 each
India got walloped by the proteas last nite ....bummer....India were actually 5/3 and then fell to 34/5 before Yuvraj rescued them with a 100. Poor poor performance by the top order....
and Pakistan beat England!!! what a shock!!! Engerland looked sure to win going into the last day but the pakistani warne thwarted their plans!!

'tis a boring game since the result is a forgone conclusion. The only surprise so far is that Warne didn't take a wicket and McGrath has developed a new slow ball, looks like a leggie. Lee is bowling so much better since he's now coming around the wicket more 3/30 ood isn't to shabby.
The main interest now in this and the next game is can Ponting score 455 runs before the end of the year to break Viv Richards record of most runs in a year?
With Englands loss it earases any chance of them being ranked N0.1 for some time but using stans logic following the ashes I guess that means the Pakis are now the best side in the world?
england hung on for a draw in the second...aussieland thumped the windies again and india/SA got rained out.
*yawn*

Finally the windies, or at least Brian Lara showed some form.
202no when the total is 7/352 is something only the great can do.
It shows once again you can never underestimate a champion, it was a pleasure to listen to and watch the last bit of play. He apparently had a close lbw turned down before he scored.
I'm pleased that in what will probably be his last test on our soil he should surpass Alan Boarder has the highest run getter of all time, he currently is on 11163 so he needs another 12
Lee showed some good form early with a 3fer but then the pitch settled into a belter. I think this will be a draw
indian top order crumbled yet again....i'm afraid to check the score now..

they'll prolly blame the coach
:D
a ten wicket loss...that's only the fourth time that's happened to India! What a thrashing....shite with the bat and equally shite with the ball....tsk tsk...

they didn't set much of a target so it's no surprise.
Was Chappell giving the crowd the finger cos of the loss or cos Ganguly has been selected for the test?
Lara got the runs and not many more.
i didn't see the bit with chappel giving the crowd the finger..hmm
i guess it would have something to do with ganguly coz he's from calcutta and the residents have been up in arms against the dropping of their prince..
congrats to lara on passing AB ....the aussie reply seems typically ruthless....i'd go for a draw too
