Does anyone know how to get thunderbird to show the size of email in my inbox and outbox? I just updated to the latest version. The previous one showed the
size of e-mails.

Right now I have sender, subject, time/date etc but no size - How do I
switch it on?

yes i did, pretty silly really - it was staring me in the face - there's a little linky at the extreme right that gives you a dropdown menu of things to add like size, label, priority etc etc...
