View Full Version : Cricket Team of 2006
So which team do you think were the best of the lot in 2005?
I think England has had an amazing year, despite the end of the year whooping by the paks. Apart from that, they showed amazing form, teamwork and effort.
It's not only the Ashes win, which for once made the Aussies look human instead of robots, but their overall performance that's won my vote.
The Aussies, with the top run getter in ODIs and Tests ( Ponting), top wicketgetter in ODIs ( Lee) and Tests ( Warne ) are second only by a fraction.
They had a great year tho they don't seem so invincible anymore.

I gotta stick with the aussies despite losing the ashes 2-1 (with one of those losses being by 2 runs following an umpiring mistake that them cost exactly 2 runs in that test)
The Poms with their series against the Pakis showed that they might only be able to win at home.
While I don't rate the aussie demolition of the windies highly the final Test of 2005 against South Africa they showed their resovle, they would have lost it without the batting expertise of Glenn McGrath who scored 11 off 56 balls (no) while Mike Hussey took his score to 122 - he almost did it again today but Gilmiester got himself out on 86.
With both Ponting and Warne rated as the best it's hard to go past the team as also the best and I think they'll improve even more as either Symonds settles into the team or Shane Watson returns

Heh, if there was any doubt it was erased today along with a runchase record form the 19th century when the aussies demolisihed South Africa and over came the "87" hoodoo by getting the 287 runs off just 61 overs.
Along the way Ricky Ponting became the only batsmanto bring up 3 centuries in 1 match :D
100 tests 124 runs in the 1st innings and 143no in the second.
I dunno if any other player has scored 100s in both innings twice in 5 games?

all i can say is aussie aussie aussie oi oi oi
doesnt look like any team can dominate the aussies, a slight hiccup in the ashes but lets see when the poms tour down under how good they really are or are not
