I've been perusing an interesting read. They published the notes of Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris today.
It's got many clues as to some answers to why these highly intelligent kids did what they did.

She said these documents provide a picture of general hatred without specific reasons. "Was there something that triggered that? Was there an incident in school? Was there something that happened at home? I didn't see that," McCombs said.
