It's almost heartbreaking to see those pix of a proud emperor, back i nthe day Saddam was a sportin lookin dude (http://www.coranix.com/killers.htm)

fast forward

horrible killers sit languid on Death Row (http://www.hiphoponline.net/rap/index.php?page=rm3) yet one reason their only handing control of Hussien is to spare him the disgrace of being dragged through the streets.. poor form for a Muslim.

yet my mind recalls the images of those Western contractors tortured and dragged through the streets to hang upsidedown

yes, he sure was a looker back in the day.....I would love to be able to get into the minds of people like him to see how their brains actually work....what makes them tick, how they see the world so differently than the majority of people see it.

power

be it a clown who supresses his wife mentaly and physicaly, or a dictator who subjugates his people with torture and subterfuge that alpha male instinct is there. Even if it's twisted.

I don't think it's power

I think it's a lack of power that makes them do what they do...the fear of not being in control of every situation

my daughter's father was a very abusive man...he had no control over his own life, so I think he felt the need to control those around him...with physical aggression as well as psychological tactics.

people like that are very good at what they do

very true, a small hearted man will use any dirty trick they can to make up for a lack of self worth. Picking on people who seem weaker is an artifice to inflate the ego and self worth. It walks hand in hand with ignorance.

but in the hands of the more coniving, we occasionaly get a dictator.

twist it with mental and physical anguish from an early age, you get a serial killer.

and judging from the prevalence today it think it safe to say that collectivly we are still little more than crazed monkeys hiding under some rocks, in spite of our lofty technologys, or grand philosophies.

I got into an argument with an american gentleman at the gym yesterday. he was
going on about how the end of hussein is the dawn of a new era for Iraq. I merely
pointed out that bush is a war criminal too but it's doubtful he'll ever be brought to justice. he seemed to take exception to that, tho he did concede that he's heard that a lot around asia.

MamaBush

it's being said around America as well.

He needs to get with the times

Iraq will have it's new era when the people stand up and decide to become a country, not a splintered, factionalized hodgepodge of Muslim sects. fact is for the most part the Muslim world simply cannot attain Democratic self government set forth in such items like the Magna Carta or Declaration of Independance.

Religious hegemony and slavery is what the average Muslim wants it seems.

MamaBush

hmmmmm....I have to think about that one

what you say maybe true gnome, but it's not America's place to tell them to have a democratic government. The invasion of Iraq was based on lies and has cost enuff lives
on both sides to merit the person behind it being awarded War Criminal Status.

Freedom doesn't mean much when you're scared of stepping out of your hose for fear of getting shot, blown up or both. With Bush now pushing for more troops in Iraq, once can't help but wonder how many more lives are going to be lost before things even remotely start to get better.

agreed, draft Congress first or try them for treason.

The thing is, in my estimation, the real reason for the attack on Iraq, the whole strategy is to destabilize efforts to form a pan-Persian caliphate. One based on religious zealotry. Say what you will about the right-ness of the Iraw war, but nobody can deny that for many many years the efforts of Islamicist to rule the Middle East has led to terrorism and murder across the globe. And like it or not the reality is it dont matter which side of the aisle you sit in regards to Middle Eastern policies, your collective asses will be fucked eventually if it is allowed to happen.

Why China deals with Islamicist with a gun barrel- they dont wory about global opinion or the ACLU. China is going to be the worls next sole superpower, and they know they wont achieve it by being nice to the Islamicist.

And we can see nations in Europe that have gone the route of giving in to radical Islam the weak concept of appeasment, they are being overrun. What happens when they fall?

THis kind of matter of fact, facist drive has happened before.

and the same things where said then that are being said now

and we all know what happened. Is that why Iran and other radical Islamic nations seem bent to discount or deny the holocaust?

Those who do not remember the past...

nice post gnomey...some very valid points there.

However, talking about religious zealots, the US seemed perfectly ok with them back in the day when their causes suited the US. They armed, trained and financed both Osama and Saddam back in the 80's in their respective wars against Russia and Iran.
I am not taking sides here. I am just astounded by the level of Hypocrisy coming out of the US and the blind patriotism that some americans ( a small minority ) have towards their country. They have no repect for other people's opinions and anyone who is anti-US is either a terrorist-symphatiser or a retard.

It's not the American public that's bad, it's the government. There is no accountability coz no one has the might to challenge them and this gives them license to do as they please.

I hear ya.

the government is a tool of the countyless global rich no doubt. But the struggle of who handles power on this fragile rock is eternal, always been here and always will be, regardles of what you call it. THe US supported those two aformentioned regemes because it was part of a power struggle against the USSR and her alies, the ballance of power had shifted and thats where were at now.

The real question is, and one that should be well considered regardless of what kind of comfy, industrialized nation you sit in: We are all going to be ruled by some form of government. What type do you want to live in?

MamaBush
01-14-2007, 05:47 PM
based on what I know about the politics in other countries, I'll remain in the country I'm in....or move to OZ *smiles*

Seems the US has a negative opinion on her just about anywhere you go in the world, but I't amazing how many of those same people are running to get in here.

it's true, people looking for better opportunites do flock to the US in search of a better life, but that's also true of most first world countries. Hypocrisy is a part of human nature. It's easy to condemn the US and yet enjoy their fine products and tv programs and movies and other products.

Jack Bauer is back...fighting the dirty arab terrorists again ;)

Once Islam, Christianity and Judaism got along together in relative peace, but then then the fundamentalist got all stupid. Islam needs to experience a reformation just like the other religions.
