Coming soon to a computer near you...........the trailer (http://groovymother.com/mirror/hitch.hikers.guide.uk.trailer.mpeg) (warning 42mb)
After watching the trailer I am waiting impatienly for the movie to be released, or if I'm lucky I'll find it on the web a few days before.
It looks to be something of a cross between the original BBC radioplay/6 part TV series and Star Wars. I'm wondering how many changes the makers will have made from the original script and will it be as funny?
I doubt if anyone under 25 or from the Americas would grasp the humour in the name of "Ford Prefect" or will they change it to something like "Ford Mustang"? or perhaps "Ford Ka" would be more in keeping with the man
But of course we all know the answers to these and other questions is 42

look what I found doing a search for this thread :D

As far as I know, Douglas Adams had a big hand in the actual writing process, so it should stick fairly close to the original source material.
This is one of the film I shall be looking forward to the most this year, along with that other sci fi one, you know, what's it called......um....... revenge of the something or other.

Have you read all the books in the series?

[size=2]I started to read the first one and lost interest after about 50 pages.

There was something about the writing that just didn’t grab my attention and keep it.

I had amny discussions with venny about the number of books in the series. He claims 5 but my omnibus edition only has 4 and I've only ever had 4 paperbacks. After much umming and ahhing we discovered that the Oz editions had included the extra 26 pages in book 3

Just to point out for anyone interested, they are:
The Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy.
Restaurant at the end of the universe.
Life, the universe and everything.
and, So long, and thanks for all the fish.
They're all a very good read and I personally recommend them.

I read them all waaay back when.

I fondly recall the BBC radio series they used to run on the NPR stations. I would sit in a hammock in the canyonlands and pick it up on shortwave.

you mean it wasn't before?

Somewhat surreal that his postcount is beyond Zokah or Xen. Which means they must either be pre-occupied with the real world or getting lucky.

And their rush to catch up will be quite the spectacle.
