This kind of story will lead me to use the term- 'Bollocks'
And I don't think I've ever used that term in amiable conversation.
Less Swearing on TV, Demands Former Sex Pistol
LONDON (Reuters) - "Wanna be an anarchist?"
At least one of the Sex Pistols, now middle-aged and a father of two, no longer does.
Former Pistols bassist Glen Matlock has called for swearing on British television to be curbed, nearly 30 years after the provocative punk rockers sent shock waves through Britain by using derivations of the dreaded "f"-word on live TV.
"It's pathetic when people swear for the sake of it," Matlock told a television show to be broadcast Sunday. "Something ought to be done about it."
Matlock, 48, also told "X-Rated: The TV Shows They Tried To Ban," that he hated it when his young children heard obscenities on the airwaves.
As a teenager, Matlock co-wrote some of the Pistols' most enduring anthems like "God Save The Queen" and "Anarchy In The UK." He left the group early in 1977 and was replaced by Sid Vicious.

Recently I noted that the Dead Kennedys where 'on tour'. Back in the day I would see them play in abandoned store fronts and warehouses. I remember their lawsuit as some members of the band wanted to sell out DK tunes for Levis jeans.
the whole thing gives me a vision of all the bad ass anarchist/hard core punks now running around with bellies, SUV's and a nuclear family.
makes you want to show their kids pictures of their mom and dad back with pink mohawks and safty pins in thier heads.:scared:

I always say,
THINK TWICE BEFORE DOING SHIT....YA NEVER KNOW WHEN IT MAY COME BACK TO HAUNT YOU
ONLY DO WHAT YOU WON'T BE EMBARRASSED ABOUT TO YOUR FAMILY OR KIDS
oh, and if my daughter was ever sent a boob pic of mine.....it wouldn't bother me a bit....she knows I've sent it out to a small handful of people...people I can trust....besides, she's always seen me naked, even to this day.

Agree wholeheartedly. Parents need to set the standards of moral conduct for their children if anything to help ensure that kids survival in the world.
I feel that such things can be taught without screwign the kids head up too, puritanical upbringings can lead to disfunctional people.
In extreme cases it can make a serial killer.
Mama you mention that if a boob pic ever got to your daughter it wouldnt be an issue. And to me that suggest that you've taught a level of comfort in regards to that kind of freedom. How do you establish the boundarys with her though? What limits are in place with her that determines say if and when SHE post boob pics online?
I dont have children- It's difficult to imagine where the logical notions of rearing a kid meet the realities for me.

some good points
I read a report some time back that tried to show a high percentage of male homosexuals had a very "macho" father I can't find it now.
I s'pose it could be rebellion against a parent that doesn't permit any experimentation or trues to dictate what the offspring should be once they have reached a stage one could expect them to make their own decisions

I guess thats the crux of the biscuit. A balance between giving a kid a degree of freedom to explore and fall and pick themselves up and defining boundaries. protection and discipline. What does a kid expect from thier parents and vice versy.
I think that love is the 'spine' of it and respect, communication and strength are of various importance. Rebellion and independance is a fundamental requirement for a child to become an adult and eventualy self reliant. The obvious basics from the very beginning of raising a kid is the key (IMHO) to a point where they can go and make thier mistakes, explore, fall, learn and live without becoming a complete loser.
I feel it's essentialy a job for two parents, the shambles that modern marriage has become in the West if a major factor in how fucked up our society has become. Yea-single parents can raise a kid, I'm an example, but more often that not it's a bad scene overall.
